Void Rivals #5 is easily taking a “must-buy” spot for this week. With Robert Kirkman and Lorenzo De Felici at the helm, this series should continue to absolutely rock.

    Lyles Movie Files

Void Rivals #5 finds the title squarely in the can’t skip realm for Image comics as this creative team is truly maximizing this fresh and fun concept. The biggest complaint remains that the issues fly by too quickly.

Void Rivals continues to build out Image’s new Energon Universe with only tangential connections to the new Transformers series. While some of the alien species are familiar to Transformers fans, the bulk of this series is simply about letting Robert Kirkman cook up an intriguing new sci-fi world and focus on building full-fledged three-dimensional character. This is vintage Kirkman at work, and it feels like every issue is building intrigue.

    Nerd Initiative

The universe of Void Rivals grows with more combustible elements thrown in the mix. Kirkman, De Felici and the team present new consequences for Solila’s actions with fantastic writing and art. The series heads into unknown territory and this issue is one you simply can’t afford to miss on New Comic Book Day!

    Graphic Policy

Void Rivals #5 is what I’ve been hoping for from the series. The story feels like it’s progressing beyond its launching of a comic line. It’s beyond guest stars. All of that has built something towards this, though at times loosely. Hopefully the payoff is worth it, there’s potential, but we’ll have to wait a bit more and see.

While the story keeps humming along nicely, this issue really starts fleshing out the world a lot more, which is fun.

    Comical Opinions

VOID RIVALS #5 continues the political intrigue and the surprising twists for a relatively satisfying issue. Kirkman keeps the plot moving at a steady albeit mild pace, and the art looks great.
