Who is QUEEN GOBLIN?! For almost sixty years, Spider-Man has been defined by Goblins, and Ben Reilly has a brand-new one all his own.
Comic Watch"Beyond" has been met with trepidation, or even disdain, from old-school Spidey fans because it stars... gasp...the clone (no further clarifier needed). But chapters likeAmazing Spider-Man #88 prove why that line of "ok boomer" style thinking is absolutely, utterly wrong. Through Ben Reilly, we're getting a fresh take on Spider-Man, one that has the chops to resonate for years to come.
COMICONThe newest Goblin makes her debut in a tale that's much deeper than it appears. It's a terrifying new addition to the Marvel Universe, with a twist.
The Super Powered FancastThe Story: Wells takes this story and Ben Reilly is some new and unexpected places in this issue. The story has a great sense of dramatic flair as characters do the unexpected and I continue to enjoy Maxine as a character. The Queen Goblin part of the story is interesting, but didn’t connect with me as much as what was going on with Ben. I do like how both stories come together and the twist at the end of the issue. The Art: Dowling delivers some great action throughout the issue. The character moments have a great visual sense of energy, but the action is compelling. Great imagery throughout.
AIPTIf you’re looking for character drama, Amazing Spider-Man #88 has it in droves as we see manipulation at work. Through its characters, you will feel dread and uncertainty that’s hard to turn away from.
Weird Science Marvel ComicsThe art style in this issue isnt my favorite, but it didnt take away from an issue that makes you wonder how far Beyond will go (Marcus is in big trouble and I'm already trying to figure out how to combine his name with Rhizome – Marczome?), who is going to stop them and how will things get fixed afterward.
But Why Tho?
