Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters: IG-88 is an example of how Star Wars comics enrich characters who are often given very little screen time. It's also an example of how there is heart and soul in any character, no matter if they are flesh and blood or metal and oil. It's a sympathetic story about a killer robot that that surprises, delights, and makes you think.

    Graphic Policy

Overall, Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters " IG-88 is an exciting story which reintroduces this character, which most would not pay attention to. The story by Barnes is fun. The art by the creative team is gorgeous. Altogether, this story is exactly why now is the best time to be a Star Wars fan.

The mega-crossover event that I really don't want to end and this book is part of the reason why. Smart, witty, beautiful, action-packed, it's everything a Star Wars comic should be. Coincidentally, it's also everything a good comic should be. Definitely worth your time and money.

The book is surely entertaining and keeps the reader invested in IG-88's trajectory and concludes with the details that make him most fascinating, though anyone who is already familiar with the droid won't be missing out by passing on this standalone adventure.

    But Why Tho?

IG-88 #1 is alright as a stand-alone comic, poor as a tie-in, and not all that special as a tribute to a bounty hunter people have adored for decades.

    Comic Crusaders

So much time is dedicated to repair and introspection and so little spent on actual action making this one of the most disappointing parts of what has otherwise been an excellent crossover.
