The book continues to move things forward and you almost feel like Valance is a human pinball sometimes as he’s just banging around various planets and characters while both trying to stay alive and achieve some of his goals. The goals themselves get a bit less clear when he’s sucked into a crossover event like this and some of the moment that we had before going into the storyline are lost a bit here. But it’s fun to watch this as a weird buddy comedy between him and Dengar. The downside is, well, all these other characters. The subplots serving the crossover aren’t all that engaging and the original pieces with the Unbroken Clan are just a couple of pages at the start. Hopefully things get better but I’ll even take continuing at this pace because it’s enjoyable enough and fun without feeling like it’s committing a lot of problems.
