This series continues to contribute interesting elements to the Predator universe and at the same time rescues elements from the original saga and video games, providing the perfect balance between horror, action and suspense full of science fiction elements.

    The Fandom Post

While Theta’s involvement here drops a good bit as it’s mostly focused on John, it’s nowhere near as bad as Paolo who gets reduced to like one line of dialogue. That said, getting John’s backstory and connections here works well to tie some things together and provide some additional motivations for him as well as the general motivation of the other survivors. You can easily see how a lot of them would kill each other just to get the Predator ship Theta has so that’s pretty on track. The trap side of it feels a bit more elaborate than it needs to be while at the same time feeling basic. It’s more that it’s more of a long-term trap than you’d think would be worth setting up, though we’ll see more in the coming issues to know if it’s worthwhile.

After a strong opening issue, Predator: The Last Hunt #2 is mostly table-setting for a much bigger fight between Theta and the Nightmare Hunter. How the aforementioned Predator set his trap is clever and it’s still awesome to see the book call all the way back to the original film and the earliest comics by brining in John Schaefer (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character’s older brother), but it’s a quick read otherwise.
