There’s a new commissioner in town, and it’s none other than Maggie Sawyer! But one clean commissioner does not make a whole bad basket of Blüdhaven police officers good, and now Blockbuster is forced to lean more on Nightwing’s sister, Mayor Zucco, to oversee the old commissioner’s illegal dealings…Then, an attack on Haven reveals some shocking truths to Nightwing and Oracle that make it difficult to recover from.

    But Why Tho?

Nightwing #94 does no wrong, pulls no punches, and knows how to escalate a plot. Nothing fancy happens here. The storytelling is simply laid out straightforward with no fuss, nothing confusing. One event leads to another, as it should. The art team had a lot of moods and styles to toy with, and certain comparisons between Blockbuster and others, the chase scene, plus that ending and how it played out…beautiful. I will hold out to see how this fallout will differ from the first one in the old 90s Nightwing series, but so far, so awesome. Nothing is broken. Everything is sharp, so don’t attempt a fix. Anxious for next month’s issue and waiting for how Heartless will capitalize on this conflict.

    DC Comics News

Nightwing #94 has a couple of surprises and provides some satisfaction with villains getting their due. As always, the characters carry the issue with their relationships interweaving with the villain plot. All this gives the series a “slice of life” feel. You’ll thrill, you’ll smile, you’ll cheer, you’ll worry! I didn’t even mention the new Police Commissioner!

    The Super Powered Fancast

The Story: Taylor adds another thrilling entry to this well-crafted adventure. Since taking the helm of this long running series, the character of Melinda Zucco has been carefully added into Nightwing’s friends and family. So much so that I find myself heavily invested in her well-being. I am excited that this episode not only puts Melinda in the spotlight but adds her into a promising story arc. I look forward to the upcoming chapters.

    The Endless Line
A sweet tribute to comics legend Neal Adams who recently passed away this year. This section features Adams in his own words, and quotes from those who carry on his legacy.

The Art: The A Story features interesting action scenes and emotionally connective world building moments. The modern styling and bold coloring perfectly compliment the tone of the narrative. The B Story uses traditional comic book styling and realistic detailed drawing to highlight its subject and add substantive weight to the dialogue given.

    Geek Dad

Tom Taylor just keeps on stepping it up on this title, with his tale of Nightwing vs. the systemic corruption of Bludhaven working on multiple levels. Last issue, he successfully exposed the Bludhaven PD’s assault on Haven, and it’s destroyed the police department’s reputation—maybe a little too well. Not only are the police disgraced in the eyes of the public, but it’s gotten federal attention—with the Attorney General showing up to sweat the implicated officers and find out who put them up to it. Sure enough, it’s Commissioner MacLean—a far cry from Gordon—and he quickly tries to flee Bludhaven with all the blackmail material he needs. After he’s cornered, he lashes out like a wild animal, leading to one of the best fight scenes in this comic so far. Taylor is a very skilled writer when it comes to showing just how tense a fight between a superhero and a non-powered antagonist can be.

    Lyles Movie Files

Taylor continues to be fully locked in with this take on Nightwing and Borges acquits himself well in fill-in artist duty.

This title remains on a roll and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon especially if this issue’s cliffhanger is any indication.
