Monarch made for a very entertaining foray into sci-fi from a contemporary child lens with the real-life drama and challenges mixed with a global pandemic on a different out of this world level. Thankfully the creative team had no trouble sticking the landing. - 60

Monarch #6 feels like somebody at Image slammed the "Wrap It Up" button on the comic. The subplot surrounding Todd proves to have been little more than a distraction. Many of the esoteric questions about existence are pushed to the side. And, perhaps most frustratingly, most of the jaw-dropping consequences from the early issues are reversed and the reader is quickly shoved into a rushed happy ending. This comic was simply outstanding at times but felt like it was just starting a much bigger story.
