As the series finale, ‘Marauders’ #12 brings everything back to where it all began a year ago putting a cap on the story of Threshold and giving Kate Pryde’s crew a successful mission. While some elements didn’t get as much spotlight as one might like, this was a fun and wild series that took a lot of chances just as one should do in this new status quo.

This creative team has given us a tale that has this phenomenal cast of characters traveling through hardships to find a key to hope. This cast has proven and defied what mutants have thought would be a permanent ending in the past. This issue brings to life themes of hope and how a future for mutants can be possible to flourish.

It’s unclear if this chapter of Marauders is set to be a finale or just a brief conclusion, but either way, it delivers a charming and complex read. As Kate Pryde and her marauders work to save a previously-disregarded part of mutantkind, their actions have clear ramifications—both emotional and textual—through Steve Orlando’s script. The art from Eleonora Carlini is breezy and dynamic, but does have some structural inconsistency as the issue marches along. Still, if you’ve been loving the status quo of Marauders as of late, you’ll absolutely find something to enjoy in this issue.
