Hitomi's pace speeds up drastically in its penultimate issue. While I've enjoyed the somewhat plodding nature of this series so far, Hitomi #4 makes it clear that this story is looking to wrap up soon. Despite this somewhat sudden change of pace, issue #4 still finds a way to feature some of the best writing and characterization that the series has seen so far. I'm not sure how Hitomi is going to wrap up with its next installment, but the groundwork that has been laid here makes me quite eager. - 90

'Hitomi' has been an utterly entertaining adventure of classic mentor-apprentice tropes that works on every level. It's wild that this is the penultimate issue when this deserves to be an ongoing series. Hitomi and Yasuke have only just begun to scratch the surface of what this unconventional partnership has to bring. Action, drama, and history all in one great package.
