Evil is everywhere and the world needs the Sorcerer Supreme more than ever. But is the world ready for LOKI: SORCERER SUPREME?

He has the cloak, the spells — he’s even got Zelma Stanton as his assistant (and possibly more?) — but is this the chance he needed to become a hero, or is the god of lies dangerously close to unlimited power?

And what happened to STEPHEN STRANGE?

    Multiversity Comics

The enchanting quality of “Doctor Strange” and the technical skill of the creators mean it feels almost silly to comment on this small sliver of story. It’s a smooth, enjoyable read, the characters are well defined, I immediately understood everything that was going on, and I think there are some great places things could go from here. As an introduction to this character and this storyline, you can’t go wrong with what Cates gives us. But mix in the incredible visuals by Walta, Bellaire, and Petit, along with the fascinating mix of the ordinary and fantastical achievable only through synchronous collaboration, and you have something truly wonderful.

Loki being the Sorcerer Supreme is a bold decision, one that pays off immediately. This is a perfect jumping on point for new readers, without losing those of us who have been following along since Aaron’s run. This could easily become a new dream team for Marvel with Cates, Walter, and Bellaire doing top-notch work.

Ultimately, this is pretty much a perfect jumping-on point with an exciting new creative team and a bold new direction for this iconic character. Cates, Walta and Bellaire are working in perfect harmony here, and the mixture of humour, drama and sorcerous shenanigans make this an easy series to recommended.

    Comics: The Gathering

Doctor Strange is in incredible hands with this new team. After meandering for a bit, the book finally feels like it has a direction and sense of purpose. Cate’s has knocked it out of the park, writing a compelling Loki and Doctor Strange. Walta and Bellaire make the book a treat to look at. Don’t sleep on this book. Even if you have never read a Doctor Strange book before, you’ll find that this is going to be a book that everyone is going to be talking about and you don’t want to miss out.

    Weird Science DC Comics

Dr. Strange comes out firing with a strong Legacy issue by Cates, Hernandez Walta, and Bellaire and one of my favorite single issues efforts so far for this latest Marvel Comics marketing initiative. While Loki takes the title of Sorcerer Supreme Dr. Strange still has a presence and both characters are more interesting for it.
