CHILDREN OF THE END!
The beings raised in the artificial world of the Vault have known since their first breaths that they stood to inherit the Earth.
They just didn’t think mutantkind would make it so easy for them.
With only Cable and Bishop to stand in their way, the end of human- and mutantkind both is at hand.
ComicBook.comChildren of the Vault provides one of the few notable victories in the "Fall of X" line as the buddy cop duo of Cable and Bishop deliver big sci-fi solutions to this tech-heavy brand of false saviors. The staging for this particular underdog victory pays off various points of interest from across the miniseries and offers a new framing for the "big gun" trope tied to both of the protagonists. It's an excellent sci-fi twist that leads to a denouement that clarifies the Children's role as antagonists in this moment within the messy mutant metaphor. Fixing this entire globe-spanning and -altering adventure within such a tight timeframe leaves it somewhat disconnected from surrounding events as entire cities melting away amidst human devastation is ignored, but they may also be a neat element of commentary within this excellent miniseries' framework.
