What Waid and Mora have created here is perhaps the most fun superhero story that I’ve read in years, gloriously diving into the big characters of the DC Universe while also adding in ideas which, on paper, sound completely ludicrous but work amazingly well here. On the surface, a fusion between Superman and Batman who has the powers of Green Lantern might sound ridiculous, but it’s told so organically that it completely works and helps move the story along like a freight train. World’s Finest has captured the best aspects of superhero storytelling and condensed them into an amazing series that can be recommended to anyone.

So things are looking pretty grim for our heroes as Supergirl delivers some disturbing news. I can’t wait to find out what will happen in the next issue and learn who our heroes will have to sacrifice in order to defeat Nezha. I mean could there be a workaround such as making a superhero clone. You know pitting science against magic? I guess we’ll learn more in next month’s installment.

The Story: Waid delivers great action and adventure in this issue. The story is filled with tension and I love seeing the dynamic between the two as they fight together. I enjoy how the tension is split between the different parts of the story and how the plot moves towards its engaging and intriguing cliffhanger.

The Art: Dan Mora crafts some beautifully vibrant and detailed art on every page of the issue. The style is brilliant and a breath of fresh air. I loved every panel and page.

High-energy antics continue to live up to the name of World’s Finest! Mark Waid and Dan Mora are giving us a summer blockbuster with so many guest appearances, a grave evil, and awesome eye candy. World’s Finest is a comic series that needs to be on your pull list.

Waid has not only gotten this title off to a great start, he may be setting up the next great DC villain.

Finally, Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #4 delivers on the one minor gripe about this title, the villain. Waid finally tips his hand, explaining who the Devil Nezha is and what his motivations are. On top of that, he delivers an incredibly fun script that’s absolutely over the top while leaving readers with an exciting cliffhanger.

It’s obvious that Waid has put a lot of thought into this arc, as it was recently announced that the events of World’s Finest will spin out into Waid’s Batman vs Robin event. It should be a fun ride.

Final Verdict: Fun. Pure unadulterated fun.

    Comic Book Revolution

Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #4 was such a pleasure to read. Mark Waid and Dan Mora created so much more excitement for how this story dealing with the threat of Devil Nezha will end. Mora definitely stole the show here as we get a lot of great action sequences and a cool fusion that Batman and Superman should not miss out on experiencing.

This is a fun book, but I still find myself critiquing many of this book’s elements. I like that it’s action-packed and I like the adventure and the way the heroes are written. However, the main villain comes across as just another generic demon, and I’m starting to think that Waid is lucky to have Mora as his ongoing artist, because ideas such as this “Composite Batman/Superman simply aren’t supposed to work out.
