The reveal at the end of the issue likely isn’t what it looks like, given the effects, but it feels like there is still a lot to explore here with only about twenty pages left to go. The fact that Campbell is going to be taking over Shazam soon and continuing Mary’s story there makes me hopeful that some of these characters will be following her.

    The Super Powered Fancast

The Story: Campbell delivers a story filled with great tension and thrills. The suspense in the story is intense and the standoff with Peacemaker is well done. I continue to enjoy the world of this story and how it mixes great action and intrigue. The realization of what the Amazons are facing is done really well through the eyes of Nubia and there is a moment of sad tragedy that really brought the series together.

The Art: Georgiev delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. I really love the visual style of the issue and how it matches the intensity of the plot.

As the next issue is going to be the last, there’s high expectations for the sixth issue and questions as to whether or not the story will continue or bleed into Tom King’s Wonder Woman run. None the less, hats off to Josie Campbell for an amazing story and keeping us on the edge of our seats.

The messaging of Amazons Attack continues to impress, perfectly toeing the line between subtlety and over-explanation. There are moments exploring the world’s turn against the Amazons that you feel at your core. Some of the character evolution gets a little lost in this issue, as the bigger twist of the series comes into focus, but it sets the table for a great finale in Amazons Attack #6.
